Promotional Events – Isadora Moon is Going on Tour

Promotional events are a fun part of my job which I’m fairly new to since last year. After so many years of working on my own in my studio, it’s a contrast to suddenly be out there leading a public event. These promotional events are wonderful, though, as I get to get to meet children who have really connected with Isadora Moon. And it looks like I’m going to be pretty busy with them over the next few months.

Promotional Events while Pregnant

Last time I had a big round of promotional events, I was seven months pregnant – that was exhausting! They were mainly around October half-term, the season of all things slightly spooky, including vampire-fairies. I did a post about it on my personal blog, here.

It was a good job the weather was cold, because I kept getting so hot with being pregnant and needing to go outside. I have some really fond memories of that week though, like our promotional event at Harpenden Books (which I’m visiting again in August). It’s only a small shop, but that made it very cosy, and it was a beautiful autumn day with brown leaves swirling around outside. We made magic wands with several small groups of children who came in, and I got to introduce them to Isadora Moon.

Promotional Events – Round 2

Henry helped out a lot that week, because he was off from teaching for half-term. Now he’s my events coordinator full-time. Between Henry’s work and the masses of help from Oxford University Press, I’ve got my work cut out for me with a lot of events coming up. Currently, I’ve got these promotional events in October:

Then there are school visits and a couple of to-be-confirmed promotional events on top of the above…

…And that’s not all

In November, I’ve got Richmond Literature Festival on the 4th. Then I thought I might have a break: a week’s holiday in Cornwall. But while I’m down there, it is of course an excellent opportunity to squeeze in one more event. So I’m visiting Waterstones Truro on November 11th.

This all seems a long way away, but I know the time is just going to fly, especially since I’ve got a few promotional events coming up over the summer before I even get to October:

  • Waterstones Watford on 12th August, 2-4pm
  • Waterstones Hatfield on 19th August, 2-4pm
  • Waterstones St. Albans on 26th August, 10.30am to 12.30pm
  • Harpenden Books on 26th August, 2-4pm

I believe Henry is also in discussion with Waterstones Derby for the 16th September, but we’re waiting on confirmation for that.

Hope to see you there!

Hopefully there’s at least one promotional event near you, wherever you are in the country, so I really do hope you can make it. If there isn’t an event near you, let me know in the comments and I’ll get Henry onto it. And if you work with a bookshop or festival and are interested in having me visit, get in touch with Henry through the contact page.

Remember, you can see all my upcoming events on my events page and my facebook page
